Effect of laser marking machine power on different coloured materials
The effect of the power of the laser marking machine on different coloured materials is as follows:
Metal materials
Stainless steel: Different power can produce different colour changes on the surface of stainless steel. Generally between 20-60 watts through oxidation reaction or microstructure changes and other ways to hit the black mark, the higher the power, the more help to form a deeper oxidation layer, the colour will be deeper, the more intense, but need to prevent excessive ablation leading to a decline in the quality of the marking; while the lower power, the formation of a lighter layer of oxidation may be only a slight discolouration of the surface of the material, showing such as light yellow, grey and other colours.
Titanium alloy: similar to stainless steel, the surface of titanium alloy will form a thicker oxidation layer under higher power, which can show a variety of colours, such as dark blue, purple, etc., and the saturation and depth of the colour will be enhanced with the increase in power; when the power is lower, the colour change is relatively lighter, and it may show a light blue, light gold and other colours.
Aluminium, copper and other non-ferrous metals: Aluminium and copper itself is relatively light in colour, the effect of laser power on its colour change is relatively limited, but the size of the power will still affect the depth and uniformity of the colour. Higher power, the marking colour will be relatively darker, such as in the aluminium surface may appear dark grey, etc., but generally more difficult as stainless steel, titanium alloys, such as a rich variety of colours; low power, the marking colour is lighter, close to the material's original colour, and there may be uneven colour phenomenon.
Non-metallic materials
Black plastic: for the black plastic, higher power may make the material surface carbonization intensified, resulting in the marking of the colour becomes more black, more intense, but if the power is too high, it may cause excessive damage to the material, scorching, deformation and other problems; appropriate reduction of power, the marking of the colour is relatively light, and can maintain the material's better appearance and performance.
White plastic: when the power is increased, the white plastic surface by the laser will change colour, may appear yellowish, light brown and other colours, and the colour will deepen with the increase of power; lower power, the marking colour is lighter, the original white of the material has less impact, but there may be a lack of clarity of the marking, the contrast is not high enough.
Transparent materials: such as transparent PVC, etc., low power may not be able to form a clear mark on its surface, even if there is a mark will be fuzzy edges, light colour; when the power reaches a certain level, such as 5-10W, can make the material surface to produce local physical or chemical changes, thus presenting a clear and visible graphic marking, but if the power is too high, such as more than 15W, it is easy to blow up the edges, playing through the phenomenon, affecting the quality of the marking, scorched edges, and so on, affecting the quality of the marking, and the quality of the marking, Scorched edges and other phenomena, affecting the quality of marking and the integrity of the material.
Coloured plastics or other coloured non-metallic materials: The power level affects the contrast and vividness of the marking colours on coloured materials. Too high power may make the colour of the coloured material lighten, fade or discolouration phenomenon, destroying the original colour effect; and appropriately reduce the power, you can maintain the original colour of the material on the basis of clear, moderate contrast marking effect, so that the marking colours and the colour of the material itself are in harmony with each other, to achieve a better visual effect.
